The app

What is Squall?

A wind and regatta intelligence app for racing sailors and coaches: a venue wind map, a plain-language read of the day, wind alerts, and race-day intel for regattas.

How is this different from a weather app?

A weather app shows one forecast for a grid cell often 10 km or more across — the same number for the whole bay. Squall models the wind across your race area: where the hills shelter it, where a strait speeds it up, how it bends along the shore. See it side by side.

What platforms is it on?

iPhone first, through a limited TestFlight beta. Android is planned to follow.

Is my venue covered?

Squall covers a growing list of club venues and every regatta on its calendar. If yours isn't there yet, tell us — we add venues from sailor requests.

What about my data?

Your sessions are yours. You control whether each stays private, is shared with your coach, or is public.

The wind & the models

Do I need to set anything up for my venue?

No. We curate every venue so you don't have to: where the race area is, which stations to trust, which models to weight and by how much, the terrain and shoreline — and at flagship venues, a full CFD solve. Open the app and the wind is already tuned to your water.

Which weather models do you use?

You don't have to pick — we do it for each venue. In the US that starts with NOAA's HRRR; in Canada, Environment Canada's HRDPS; elsewhere, the best regional and global models for the area, such as ECMWF, GFS, ICON and AROME, plus Tomorrow.io. We weight them for each venue by how well each one has done there, then reshape the blend to the venue's terrain.

What is CFD, and where do you use it?

Computational fluid dynamics: solving how air actually flows over the hills, islands and shoreline around a venue. It shows wind shadows, acceleration and bends a forecast model can't see. It runs at flagship venues today, with more each season. How it works.

How accurate is the wind?

Every venue is checked against measured wind from the buoys and stations near it, and the forecast is calibrated to them. Gusts are learned from those same stations, so they match what your venue actually does — not what a model guesses.

How often does it update?

Forecasts refresh as new model runs come in — hourly for the high-resolution models — and live readings from nearby stations adjust the next few hours.

Passes & buying

What does it cost?

The Wind Map, Intel and alerts are free. Gated regattas need an Event Pass, a Season Pass, or a seat on a Team Pass — and every gated regatta gives you a few minutes' free preview first. Event Passes count toward the Season price, so you never pay more than that in a year.

Can I buy a pass on the website?

Yes. Sign in with the account you use in the app, pick your pass, and pay on a secure Stripe page. It appears in the app straight away.

I sign in to the app with Apple. Can I still buy here?

Sign in here with the email on that Apple account, or buy in the app on your phone. Either way the pass lands on your Squall account.

Team Pass

How does a Team Pass work?

A coach or club buys a set of seats. Sailors join with the team code or link, and each gets a Season Pass. The team admin can free a seat when someone leaves and hand the admin role to another member.

What happens when a sailor leaves the squad?

The team admin frees their seat in the app and it's ready for the next sailor. The code stays the same.

Free at your venue. Passes for regattas.EVENT FROM $29 · SEASON $149 · TEAM PASS FOR YOUR SQUAD
